government does not pay the full cost of primary education.
Students must provide their own uniforms, and even paper, pencils, and books. Remote
villages must build their own schools and attract teachers. When the Tanzanian government eliminated primary school fees in 2000, they were so flooded with children that they are overwhelmed. Secondary school is not free, and is beyond the reach of most families. |
