| ABOUT DOROBO SAFARIS: |
|
Dorobo
Safaris was originated in the early 1980s in Arusha, Tanzania. Since
its beginning, Dorobo has based its adventure travel on the philosophy
that our natural environments (and wilderness and wildlife) are
intimately and irrevocably linked to people - both locally and
globally. Dorobo has designed unique wilderness travel for individuals
and groups. Their background in the natural sciences along with their
knowledge of the peoples of East Africa provide stimulating educational
experiences. African cultures are serendipitously met while on camping
and walking safaris in wilderness areas of Tanzania. These special
adventures engage participants in issues of ecology, culture and
development.
Dorobo is proud of all their wilderness-trained, English and Swahili
speaking staff. They cook and serve the freshest camp fare of locally
available ingredients. |

Dorobo's focus on
establishing partnerships with
local communities led naturally to the formation of Dorobo Fund for
Tanzania, a 501.c3 non-profit organization committed to educating and
empowering
communities to sustainably manage their natural resources. Our mission
has two parts:
- To assist local villages take charge by
promoting sustainable community-based natural resource management.
- To promote educational and leadership
development opportunities for young people, especially women, who are
motivated to lead positive change.
We are committed to village projects which
maintain small, clear, self-chosen goals and a focused conservation
agenda. We are committed to collaborating with other
organizations who share our purpose.
